Here we go again (AM)
I know that spring is the most fickle of mistresses. And I know that the forecast for tomorrow suggests there'll be 40mm of rain. But it's weeks like these you understand why people stick around with fickle mistresses. I mean all the promise and delight spring makes you feel. Even though you know that after tomorrow this kind of sunshine and warmth may disappear for weeks on end, the sweet floral scents may be nothing but a tease of a promise on a cold wind, right now all you can think about is spring's beauty and how good it makes you feel when it's around. Sheesh. Love's hard.

I love clothes (AM)
You may think if you've read this blog or if ever had a conversation with me that you already know this and I should too. And you'd be right in a way. It's obvious in the things that I write and things that I say and on a good day in the way that I dress. But loving clothes is something a person sometimes has to deny. Not outright of course but just in the way you are. You have pretend you love other things more than clothes, like your children or boyfriend.
Just jokes, I love my children and boyfriend more than clothes. No pretends. But guys beautiful clothes are beautiful and I want to wear them.
I think partly this seasonal mess of weather always helps because every day you're dressing for a new season which really helps keep the love alive. Just yesterday I was fully loving myself sick in a QEII-worthy monochrome ensemble of pale pink shorts with a dark pink linen sweater. Monochrome for life! It really got me excited about spring dressing. Them today I had to totally shift gears into winter dressing. Whaaat?!
That's when I spotted a great woolen Gorman dress that I bought years ago. It was the last thing I bought before Gorman became my mortal enemy. I spotted this dress in my wardrobe and thought "You're beautiful!" And that's when I just thought "I LOVE CLOTHES!" Why a fight it any longer. Oh sure, I'm wearing monochrome again* (why wouldn't I?!) but that's what's so great about clothes! Colour! Cuts! Combos! They have so much to offer. And I for one love them. Unashamedly and eternally.

London Calling (AM)
I'm not sure whether it's annoying for me to constantly talk about these places I am visiting right now. I really hope it's not. I certainly don't mean to be all 'look at me, I'm in this great place'. But when you write a blog about the stuff you eat and see and think about, and all the eating and seeing and thinking about is happening in other places, pretty soon those places are going to come up. It's pretty impossible to avoid.
So here I am in London. We arrived yesterday and will be here for a bit over a month. It's summer in London. It's kind of beautiful.
I only came to London for the first time last year, to meet Appleheart for our first overseas trip together. I'd never made it a priority to come to London before because it's London, of course I would get there eventually. Plus, I'd heard so much about London being a bit shit. About how grey it is, how depressing it is, how rainy and dreary it is. No one was saying "London is the greatest, you've got to go to London" like they do when they come back from New York or Berlin or, you know, MONA. People's dampened (ha! cos its so rainy...) enthusiasm, and knowing I would eventually get there, meant London never rose to the top of my list of places to go. Then one day last year it did, so I came, and gee whizz did I love it. I couldn't get over how much I loved it. So many people. So much stuff. Such excellent food. Long long days and so much sun. No one ever mentioned that stuff before*. So I loved it. I really really loved it.
Of course, I've often wondered since whether it was the greatness of London that I was responding to, or whether I was swept up by the excitement of my first overseas holiday with my squeeze. It was a very exciting time. One of the most exciting ever, truth be told.
Now I'm here again, I guess we'll find out soon enough. But I have to say readers, the early indications are pretty good.
*In a way that made me remember...

Bear with us (AM)
Look readers, I can't lie to you. It's been a rough couple of days for the Misses Soft Crab. This is largely due to a close shave with something that pretty much goes to the core of what this blog is about but I'm pretty sure neither of us a ready to talk about yet . One day, readers, one day. When we learn how to feel again.
In the meantime, I'm afraid I'm struggling to find inspiration. Frankly, I'm struggling with respiration. I just want to lie around and make the moaning sound that Harry makes in that scene in When Harry Met Sally when he makes the moaning sound.
Remember? Here, let me show you. This version is dubbed in Italian but it doesn't matter because the moaning sound is the same in Italian. And it's the only version I could find on the internet.
But it's pretty funny, so you should watch it.

An open letter to autumn (AM)
Hey Autumn,
You know how I feel about you. Everybody does. It's written all over my face and also the Internet, mainly this blog. I think that you are all that and a bag of chips. And I love chips. I love the way light looks so pretty during you and how the sun has this special warmth, like when it shines on you it's just pure sunshine. I love the way I get to wear all my favourite clothes and shoes and my brand new coat and just feel snugly and warm and cosy and not cold. How do you do that autumn? Girl, you so hot you got summer jealous. You so cool you make winter feel she writing cheques her butt can't even cash. You the one autumn.
Love
J
Ps. Hey autumn, are you friends with The Universe, cause I tried on a really cute jumpsuit last night and I just wondered if there is some way I could get it without dropping 1000bucks. 'Kay, bysies.

Have I told doon lately that I love you (AM)
Did everyone in Melbourne have a beautiful reunion with their doona last night? Lord knows I did! In case I have not made myself clear in the past, I love bed and I really love my doona. It is really the icing on the cake.
Oh, sure when I got into bed last night I was looking forward to a night where I didn't have to lie in such a way where my limbs weren't touching and I was pretty confident I would sleep through, like the proverbial baby, but not like any real baby, who are notorious for not sleeping through. I wrapped myself in doona, knowing I may kick it off in the night but was unlikely to awaken, as I had the previous two nights, from a dream where I was looking for a blanket or jumper, freezing, obviously because the fan was working too well in real life only to wake and find that the cold in the dream had been nothing but a dream and it was still hot as a mutha! Capiche? Neither!
In truth I have found the famous March heatwave of 2013 entirely manageable. Saturday was kinda unbearable, but the other days have been fine. I could barely believe Monday and Tuesday were over 36, they felt like nothing more than a classic 32, and who can't handle that?! But the nights, oh brother, the nights have hurt a bit. And yet, they were ok, just knowing this too shall pass. But I guess what I liked most about the end of the heatwave was getting back under dooney. My sweet, sweet dooney. Distance truly does make the heart grow fonder.

A year of the new guy (PM)
Happy birthday Little Nut!
Gee, they grow up so fast! Just jokes! But not really. I mean, first they pop out and they are just this tiny little thing that sleeps a lot and somehow you love them more than anything or anyone before even though you barely know them and they barely exist. And only one year later they are a full little dude that maybe walks and maybe kinda talks. Crazy. I mean what else happens like that in a year. Nothing! Except I guess you could maybe meet a person, not know them and a year later be totally in love with them. Or someone could die and you could go from being completely unable to imagine a time that is without the pain to being in a place where the pain is dulled, less constant. You could lose 20 kilos or gain 20 kilos. A person could go from completely non-existent, COMPLETELY, to 3 months old within a year. Shit. I guess a lot is possible in a year. No wonder kids go from tiny little sleeping bundles to a toddler in that time.

Haiku Thursday (PM)
Nature
Nature, you're pretty
Are you seeing anyone?
Is it serious?
If things don't work out,
Call me. You're real special
I'd treat you so good

Chinoserie (PM)
It's true, I really hit the ground running with this chino thing. It's not that I was desperate to immediately own a pair of chinos, it's more that I wanted to see if they really could be what I was hoping, a lightweight, stylish alternative to jeans. I basically live in a pants-based dressing economy, but as you may have noticed I am falling out of love with jeans. I considered moving to a dress-based wardrobe but I hate all my dresses so I'd basically have to start from scratch and my own personal, actual economy would not allow for that. Plus, I am too lazy to keep my legs hairless all the time and I hate looking at my hairy legs. Blah, blah, need more pants.
So yeah, I tried on two pairs of chinos in just three days, what of it. I kind of loved those Alpha chinos. I really did. But they just did not sit right on me. And I knew that they would fit K really well, I also knew that I would probably keep thinking about them even though they weren't right for me. So, I did the only thing I knew would put an end to it, tell K about them and send them her way/her their way, whatever. And sure, I've thought about them a lot. Constantly since then. Look, I feel really happy for her finding love with pants. I mean that kind of love comes along once, maybe twice in a lifetime. And sure, there is a small sting of jealousy, but friendship trumps all. Right? Right.
But that clasp. Sheesh. Nothing is perfect I guess. Me, I'd just sew them back up because I would want those pants on my ass asap. But a more perfect pant sounds good too. The answer is... the answer ...I don't know.
