I really hope this works (AM)

So some of you might be wondering why J was the only crab to post anything last week. J, who on Monday last week, gave birth. Then on Wednesday last week had just made it home from hospital with a two day old baby. First, let me say I'm very sorry. And let me tell you the reason, which is actually two reasons. The first reason is that the new IOS does not seem to like the blogger site and whenever you try to write a blog post the whole thing crashes, which is very annoying when you're 99% of the way through a blog post, and iphone is an essential piece of equipment for your blogging life. Seriously Apple, seriously Google, I expect the two of you to get together and sort out your differences. The other part is that as I've regularly told you all, J is the sensible one in this outfit. If you've ever wondered whether there is one crab to rule them all then the answer is yes, those giant crabs that live on the ocean floor and you see on David Attenborough documentaries, but after that it's J. And don't you think she deserves a break to get to know her new baby who is off the charts cute? Yes, I think so too. So, Miss Soft Crab is going to have a new-life hiatus for a few weeks. We'll be back in November, the day before the public holiday for that big horse race. See you then, crab fans!

Mid-hiatus update

 

The clue is in the heading y’all. This post-baby hiatus is going to be extended until August 24 when we will return with all the hilarity and insight you’ve come to expect from the Misses Soft Crab. You didn’t seriously expect us to return for reals today, did you? It occurred to me the other day when I was visiting K that in the period after you have your first baby what you do, in a way, is become a new person. Of course you are figuring out how to look after a baby and you are getting over the trauma of childbirth and you are figuring out what this life means. But also what all that means is that in order to do all that you are also becoming, to an extent, a new person, even if you don’t know that’s happening. So geez, give K a couple more weeks, you guys. Sure in a couple of years and another baby she may be blogging from thelabour suite but for now winter hiatus continues.

News of the week

You may be wondering what the hell happened on Monday afternoon. Y'all must have been on tenterhooks wondering what K had to say about Next Blog. Did she give it a whirl and find some little weirdos sharing their lives? Or did she just want to reflect on the guy in the airport? But she never posted. Wow it's  as if she didn't even care what the world of next blog had to offer her.

Well for a long time Miss Soft Crab was the most important crab in K's life. I assume. But now she has her own little crab to tend to and he's a tiny little critter demanding all her attention. So please excuse us for a couple of weeks while K figures out what's going on and I take a hard(ly)-earned break from this hard blog slog. Come back in a couple of weeks for a highly refreshed me and a likely delirious K. Or news of a hiatus extension. Who knows what's going to happen. But rest assured readers we'll be back soon enough.
